Day 01: Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre – Borneo Highlands Resort (L/D)

After breakfast depart from your hotel in the city to commence Semonggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre situated about ½ hour drive from Kuching. It provides a rare opportunity to be at close range with the “Wild Man of Borneo” and to observe their behaviors and activities in their natural habitat. Before arriving at the feeding platform, you will have a brief experience walking through the amazing untouched rainforest.

After this visit continue your program with an approximate 30-minute drive to the foothill of the Borneo Highlands Resort where you will board the Resorts Shuttle which will bring you for another 20 minutes along a steep wrote uphill the Resorts building. The Sitting on the Penrissen Range, 1,000 meters above sea level, the Borneo Highlands Resort is surrounded by rich vegetation, flora and fauna and lush rainforest with a year-round spring temperature of 18 - 28 degrees Celsius. It is an absolute botanical paradise where one can enjoy fresh air, cool mountain breeze and spectacular highland sceneries.

After checking in at your room, meet your guide and proceed for lunch at the resorts restaurant (strictly vegetarian).

After a short rest after lunch, your guide will bring you for an approximate 1 hours trekking through this unique rainforest until you will reach the Kalimantan Viewpoint, an open area located directly at the border from where you will have a wonderful view to the Indonesian side of Borneo.

The rainforest at the Borneo Highlands Resort is well known for its many different species of birds, which makes it a paradise for bird watchers. The known 177 different species of birds consist of 4 species of Hornbills and endemic species such as Pygmy White Eye, Mountain Black Eye, Bornean Barbet, Chestnut Crested Yuhina etc.

Together with your guide you will try to find and identify some of the species that can be discovered at the open area of the lookout point. Return to the Resort by 4-Wheel Drive for dinner. After dinner proceed for a night walk in search for nocturnal animals together with your guide. Overnight Borneo Highlands Resort.

Day 02: Borneo Highlands Resort – Kuching (B/L)

Early morning you will meet your guide and drive with the Resorts vehicle once more to the Kalimantan Look out point to discover the many birds that are easily to be seen in the early hours of the day.

Return to the Resort for breakfast and time free at leisure until lunch for you to discover the beauty of the Resorts nature on your own.

After lunch return with the Resorts shuttle to the foothill of the Borneo Highlands where you will meet your driver who will transfer you back to your hotel in Kuching.
