The Day Tour for a Wildlife & Orangutan Observation (D)
Duration: About 7 hours
1:00pm Pick up from Bike and Tours Bed & Breakfast. Depart for an hour drive to Bukit Piton – first-class forest reserve.
Arrival at Bukit Piton and get a brief information from your guide on the history and conservation efforts at Bukit Piton. This is followed by tree planting activity before embarking on the wildlife observation.
The search for Orang Utan and other wildlife will take place at the back of a pick-up truck. Bukit Piton Forest Reserve was a badly damaged forest and loss to activities such as logging and agriculture. As a result the once healthy population of orangutan was impacted. However, when tree planting activities took place, it filled up the empty patches of land. A slow process that is still taking place up to today. As a result, wild orangutans together with other wildlife re-found their way home at Bukit Piton once again. You may learn more about the forest eco system at Bukit Piton
During the late afternoon safari, one would lookout to observe Borneo Wildlife such as the orangutan, storm’s stork, elephants, otters, red leaf monkeys and different species of Borneo birds.
Stop for dinner break and continue with the night drive in seach of the nocturnal such as the endangered slow loris, moon rat, kingfishers, reptiles, owls, wild cats and many more.
The search continues for wildlife sighting before heading back to Bike and Tours B&B in Lahad Datu around 8pm
