Mount Trusmadi is 2,642 meters tall and is the second highest mountain in Malaysia after Mount Kinabalu. It is located about 70km southeast of Kota Kinabalu City. Those who have been to both Mount Kinabalu and Mount Trusmadi said that Mount Trusmadi is much more challenging to conquer. The trails at Mount Trusmadi are rough, muddy and rocky. This adds to the challenge, but it is often sought upon by mountaineers and adventure seekers.


Day 1; Kota Kinabalu to Keningau (L/D)

Pick up from Kota Kinabalu airport

(Recommended: Arrival in the morning so we can reach KK City before 1pm)

Drop off at Kota Kinabalu City for lunch and shop for necessities if needed (at your own expense). Recommended to buy wet tissues as this will come handy when you do the hiking in Trusmadi.

Depart for a 2 hours journey to Keningau Interior Town. 30mins rest and refreshment (at your own expense). The journey continues for about 1hr 45mins drive to Kampung SINUA CAMP 1.

Back To Basic! Check in to camp bedding styled accommodation with simple and basic facilities. Dinner and briefing. Have a good night sleep before another adventure takes place the next morning!


Day 2; Camp 2 (B/L/D)

Breakfast, finalize climbing item and backpack. Meet with mountain guide for briefing and on the dos and don'ts.

Begin hiking to Camp 2 with 7.8km ascend. This is where the adventure begins as the jungle is kept wild with lose rocks, muddy surface, 2 rivers to cross, tree roots and leeches to look out for whilst trekking. The trekking session takes about 5 – 9 hours depending on fitness level.

Estimated time to reach CAMP 2 is around 6pm. The atmosphere here is of cool temperature with an average of 16-20’C. Settle in before dinner. After dinner, relax those tired legs to a good night rest in the camp.


Day 3; Summit of Trusmadi (B/L/D)

1am. Wake up, warm up and get ready for the next trekking session. Supper at CAMP 2. Bring only warm cloths and leave the rest in CAMP 2.

Hike 4.3KM to the Summit of Trusmadi (2,642.28 M). The forest is wilder with steep and narrow paths to climb. Tree roots, mosses and muddy treks adds to the challenge for the day. Here, you may get a chance to sight the beautiful endemic Pitcher Plant “Nepenthes Lowii”. The trekking journey takes about 4 – 5 hours depending fitness level.

Estimated time to reach the Summit. 30mins rest and photos session. During clear weather, we can see Mount Kinabalu from here!

4.3KM descend back to CAMP 2. Journey takes 3 – 4 hours depending fitness level.

Short rest, pack your bags and brunch. By 12:00pm – Continue 7.8 KM descend to CAMP 1. Takes 4 – 6 hours depend on fitness level.

Rest, early dinner, freshen up and pack your things. 6:00pm – depart 4 hours overland back to KK City. Drop off hotel around 10:00pm.
